JHS throws one of these in w/ their pedals. I sent something in to get a mod & they threw one in w/ that too. Similar tone & feel to “Stubbies” (but flat, of course). Works well for Lemmy/Dee Dee style bass.

Go figure… I bought a VCR pedal and was surprised to find this pick in the package. I have heard of these picks before but dismissed them because they are so expensive. Who in their right mind pays that much for a pick… after playing with it though… I understand. I will say I do think they are expensive, but the quality and craftsmanship that goes into them is awesome. I would not have believed a pick could make this much of a difference. Whoever the dude is that happened to “handmake” mine that day is a good dude. I am sold.

I’ve been exclusively a Dunlop Yellow Tortex guy for over 15 years. I regularly made fun of players who would spend a ton of money on picks. Then I bought a JHS pedal, and tried the included pick on a whim. Now I’m eating crow and trying to figure out the best way to find the exact right shape, size, and thickness for me without spending a ton of trying different picks.

Long story short – one experience with the JHS signature pick has convinced me that I need to revisit being a Yellow Tortex-only player.

I found a couple of these that had been lying around for years from some pedals I bought. I tried one and thought wow these are nice, different. So I ordered some more. Meanwhile I compared it to a standard Fender pick. I was disappointed to find that all of the brightness was gone with this pick. Its as if the guitar is somehow muffled. I tried it with an acoustic, and electric with the same result. I wanted to like these but the bottom line is they don’t sound as good to me. Just my opinion, I wont be using them.

Wow! What a difference! Received one of these when I purchased a JHS pedal. Normally I use medium standard picks. The 1.5mm felt very thick to me so, it sat it was added to my pile of picks for months. One night while doing homework for Berklee Online I picked it up and started playing. If felt somewhat unusual at first but I really enjoyed the sound so I continued to play until midnight! (4hrs later) Bottom line I couldn’t put it down.
Excellent Pick! I ordered a 1.5mm Classic Polished (Green) and a Gold Classic (Gray). These are my new picks! Thanks Gravity!
