More volume and less pick noise.
The Gold Series is the premium line offered by Gravity Picks. The material is a high grade thermoplastic which is amazingly wear-resistant. There is a sizable difference in volume when compared with a normal pick, enabling you to cut through the mix.
So then why 4 stars? First I’ll say I’ve used a bunch of Gravity Products and found them satisfactory but not entirely for me. I always felt like they were on the cusp of something great, it’s why I kept trying. So..
First, pick symmetry is right on, and if you’re familiar with Gravity picks you already know this is a thing they excel at. This is a fast pick, meaning the symmetry, plus material used affords a player really fantastic attack(playing a note with whatever degree of dynamic) and release(being free of the string for next attack). It’s terrific. Great control in this pick.
Second, materials used with the gold series picks has great grip without actually having a grip carved into the pick. I feel like in earlier series the high gloss clear plastics made it difficult for dudes like me that sweat and play high energy thrash/speed metal to hang on to the picks or not have them rotating between your fingers. These gold picks get it right.
Third and last though is price. It’s difficult for me to justify $25 for ONE pick. At the time of this review I’m about 15-20 hours into playing on this pick and I’m pretty hard on picks. This far it’s wearing very well but I’m also the type of guy that likes to see just what beating a thing will take.
Should you get this pick(or the classic gold) pick that speaks to you and your playing? Absolutely.
Very comfortable, and perfect contours. Best pick i have tried; highly recommend
I tried a variety of pics trying to hone in on what I like. Their quality and variety is second to none.
After receiving the right model ( I initially ordered the Gold 5mm pointy version by mistake but meant to get the Gold 5mm standard shape) I really like it. Definitely worth the money. It’s made of a material that’s sits firmly in your grip so you can relax the grip a bit but still it slips smoothly over the strings with no resistance. I also like the design of the bevels that make sure the pick goes through the strings easily regardless of your pick angle.
I am a Red Bear Pick user for many years. I love the gold Gravity pics.
Red Bears are great but not as slip proof as teh Gravity nor as quiet against the strings.
